For the fourth straight year, Korea ranks seventh in the copyright category of the International Intellectual Property Index of the Global Innovation Policy Center (GIPC) under the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on April 21 said the country ranked 10th overall in 10 categories including copyrights, patents and trademarks in the GIPC's 2025 report on the index.

In addition to finishing seventh in copyrights for four consecutive years, Korea also topped the systemic efficiency category for the third straight year.

The country also received excellent evaluations in seven subevaluation indicators in copyrights like response to online infringement and laws on digital rights management.

The GIPC report also positively evaluated a ministry guide released in December 2023 on copyrights for generative artificial intelligence (AI) that was distributed worldwide. The publication urged AI developers to respect copyrights.
