On March 29 (Saturday), Netflix Brazil held the inauguration of the sign “São Luís loves K-dramas” in São Luís, Maranhão. The inauguration took place at São Luís Shopping, which was also the venue on the same day for the screening of the final episode of the series "When Life Gives You Tangerines", starring actors IU and Park Bo-gum.

At the invitation of Netflix, the director of the Korean Cultural Center in Brazil (KCC Brazil), Cheul Hong Kim, participated in the opening ceremony of the sign along with the mayor of São Luís, Eduardo Braide, Netflix’s Director of Public Policy, Mariana Polidorio, and the administrators of Doramelizando, Branca and Ester.
“I believe that the sign means that the citizens of São Luís were happy watching Netflix K-dramas. Turning this message into a sign also seems to me like a public declaration of love for South Korea and its culture,” said Cheul Hong Kim in his speech.

Right after the unveiling of the sign, around a thousand fans gathered in the mall’s food court to watch the final episode of the K-drama "When Life Gives You Tangerines". The screening was hosted by Netflix Brazil in partnership with Doramelizando, which also conducted a quiz about the Korean production before the screening began.
Thanks to the Netflix Brazil event, Jeju and São Luís, two paradisiacal islands so far apart geographically, were celebrated in a very special way. The Korean Cultural Center in Brazil hopes that cultural exchange between Korea and Brazil can continue to grow over the years and is committed to continuously working toward this purpose.
