The smash Netflix hit "Squid Game" on June 27 will conclude with its final season.

Since its debut in 2021, the series has captivated viewers worldwide over the past four years and hype is understandably building toward its finale.

Season three shows the final fight between the protagonist Seong Gi-hun (played by actor Lee Jung-jae) and the remaining players after his rebellion against the game fails.

On June 9 at a media event on the season at a Seoul hotel, Lee said, "Gi-hun eventually decides to do what he can after thinking about it at the game venue and takes action."

Another highlight is the final duel between Gi-hun and the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who hides his identity while playing the game. "The full-scale confrontation between the Front Man and Gi-hun will serve as the main plot," Lee Byung-hun said.

"Squid Game" raised the image of Korean content into the global content stratosphere after its first two seasons topped the global viewing charts, becoming the first content not in English to earn six Emmys of the U.S.

Series creator and director Hwang Dong-hyuk hinted at the possibility of a spinoff, "I'm not considering a sequel now but could consider it if the opportunity presents itself."
