The new Korean series "Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area" on June 25 (Korean Standard Time) ranked third on Netflix's global chart one day after its release.

FlixPatrol, a global site that ranks over-the-top streaming content, said the series on June 27 finished No. 3 on Netflix's world rankings and maintained the spot for two straight days.

The drama topped the charts in 11 countries: Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, the Philippines, Morocco, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia and Hong Kong.

The series was seventh in Spain, home of the original.

"Money Heist: Korea" is about a group of thieves led by a genius mastermind (played by actor Yoo Ji-tae) who attempts an unprecedented robbery involving hostages in a soon-to-be reunified Korean Peninsula.

Unlike the original Spanish series, the remake has the thieves wear hahoetal (Hahoe masks) instead of Salvador Dali masks and the background music uses gugak (traditional Korean music) to add a Korean charm.
