Korea-Germany Summit (July 2017)

President Moon Jae-in held a summit with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at her offices in Berlin on July 5. The two leaders talked about ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual interest.

Both leaders focused on North Korea in particular. President Moon stressed the need for stronger sanctions and greater pressure to stop the regime from carrying out further missile tests.

President Moon Jae-in visited Washington D.C. from June 28 to hold the first Korea-U.S. summit of his administration with U.S. President Donald Trump. The two leaders discussed cooperation measures on advancing the Korea-U.S. alliance, joint measures to fundamentally solve issues involving the Korean Peninsula, and discuss ways to deepen bilateral cooperation on trade and other global issues.

The two leaders adopted a joint statement following the summit at the White House on June 30. They agreed to further enhance the Korea-U.S. alliance and to cooperate on dealing with the problem of North Korean nuclear weapons.
